A buffer reserves time after a facility booking for cleanup, setup, or turnover. It prevents another booking from starting during that time without extending the bookable or billable booking period.
Set a facility buffer
- Go to Manage → Facilities and create or edit a facility.
- Under Booking Configuration, turn on Buffer between bookings.
- Choose a preset of 15, 30, 45, or 60 minutes, or enter a whole number of minutes up to 480.
- Save the facility.
The setting is off by default. For an associated facility, you can keep Use parent default or turn it off to set a different buffer—including Off—for that facility.
How buffers affect bookings
The buffer starts when a booking ends. It blocks overlapping bookings and removes unavailable times from the timeslot picker. It also applies to pending and approved booking requests. On the calendar, the reserved time appears as Buffer.
Managers can change or turn off the buffer for an individual booking or request when creating or editing it. For a recurring booking, they can apply an edit to one occurrence, that occurrence and future ones, or the whole series.
Good to know: A buffer may end early at the facility’s closing time or when another occupancy begins. Changing a facility’s default does not retroactively change buffers on existing bookings; editing a booking recalculates its buffer. Declining or deleting a booking request releases its reserved buffer time.
