How to Bulk Assign and Remove Tags on User Accounts
Tags help you organize and filter your users by any criteria that matters to your organization — volunteer interests, committees, skill sets, membership tiers, or any custom grouping. This article explains how to assign and remove tags on multiple user accounts at once from the Users list.
Before you start
Make sure the tags you want to use already exist. See Capturing Volunteering Areas of Interest for how to create user tags.
Bulk assign a tag to multiple users
1. Go to People > Users in the admin portal
2. Check the box next to each user you want to tag. You can select as many users as needed
3. Click Assign Tag in the toolbar above the table
4. In the modal that opens, search for and select the tag you want to assign from the dropdown
5. Click OK to confirm
The tag is added to every selected user. If a user already has that tag, they are skipped. The table refreshes automatically to show the updated tags.
Bulk remove tags from multiple users
1. Go to People > Users in the admin portal
2. Check the box next to each user you want to remove tags from
3. Click Remove Tag in the toolbar above the table
4. In the modal that opens, pick one or more tags to remove. The list only shows tags that exist on the selected users, and the count next to each tag tells you how many of those users currently have it
5. Click Remove to confirm
The selected tags are removed from all selected users. Users who didn't have a particular tag are skipped. The table refreshes automatically.
Notes
- Tags are specific to user accounts — they are separate from donation tags, product tags, or transaction tags
- To manage tags on a single user's profile, open that user's account and use the Tags section on their profile page
